A year to be thankful for...

It's a good thing maintaining a blog isn't a part of my job because if it was, I would have been canned long ago. I mean, you'd think someone with a print journalism degree would be able to find the time to post at least a couple of times a week, if not every day.

All I can say now is that it's almost the new year, so I've decided to make one of my resolutions to post two or three times a week, EVERY WEEK, in 2010.

But, before I look too far forward, I wanted to take a few moments to talk about some of the bigger moments of the year that's about to be over.

In April, my beloved Granddad Richard passed away due to injuries from an automobile accident. This was especially tough to take because he was a World World II hero and had beaten cancer. He shouldn't have had to go out like he did. He will forever be missed.

Then, in July, my beautiful baby boy Dominic turned one. I thank God every day for this most precious gift, and I don't know what I ever did to deserve him (but it must have been something pretty good). He amazes me everyday and is my reason for being.

In October, I went to a dermatologist, and she determined that I needed a cancer biopsy. That was pretty scary because cancer is serious business, and I had undergone a test that might end up telling me I had it. But, everything ended up being normal and just fine. This would probably be a really good time to thank God again for my health and the health of my son, husband and all the other important people in my life.

On to 2010!

The first one!

I think blogs are really cool, and I'd been thinking about starting one for awhile. Since I'm the type to set goals, I said I would create my first blog post on Dom's first birthday, which was July 11. Well, that clearly didn't happen. Dom got so tired of waiting, that this happened.
Ok, so that's not really what happened. This was a shot from Dom's birthday, his big chance to stuff all the cake he wanted in his face, in his hair, all over his clothes. But, nope. He wanted none of that. For whatever reason, right in the middle of the action, with all the people there, he fell asleep suddenly.

Oh well, right? Of course, I wasn't mad or even really disappointed. He looked so darn cute, and besides, these are the types of photos I can harass him with when he's 16 and bringing dates home. :)

A lot has happened in the, oh, month and a half since Dom turned one. Like this...
One of my favorite new nicknames for Dom is "Walker, Texas Ranger." It's amazing watching him move around and explore. I just wish I could freeze time for awhile because I know he'll grow up way too fast.
